Hull, or Kingston upon Hull to give its full name, is often maligned and criticised, but this is often unfair as it can offer an excellent experience to visitors. With a modern centre, lovely old docks and a down to earth yet vibrant atmosphere, Hull is an enjoyable place to spend some time.
The centre of the city is rejuvenated and has a lively bar and club scene because of the large university population. Down by the docks are an enjoyable place to spend some time and offer a great insight into Hull's proud seagoing history. The city also has some interesting cultural attractions on offer. |

Maritime Museum - Set in a wonderful neoclassical building, Hull's excellent maritime museum tells the story of the cities proud seafaring history. On show are wonderful model ships, a whale skeleton and whaling equipment from the 18th and 19th century.
Princes Dock - The rejuvenated Princes Dock is one of the most impressive areas of Hull. The waterfront is lined with modern styled buildings including the excellent Princes Quay shopping centre.
High Street - The high street of Hull is quite enchanting with some wonderful buildings along its length. One of the most loved buildings is the wonderful Wilberforce House which has some fantastic exhibits on show.
Old Grammar School - Hull's 16th century Grammar School is one of the cities most impressive structures. |
