| The airport is a hell of a long way out of a town, and the shortest way by car will bring you to one of the 2 toll bridges that span the Halifax Harbour: the A. Murray MacKay Bridge or the Angus L. MacDonald Bridge. You can avoid the bridges by taking the 40 km drive on the 102 highway that goes around the Bedford Basin. Halifax is so compact it takes no time to get anywhere on foot, and Metro Transit offers an efficient bus service that runs frequently along the major streets if you get tired. You’ll need a car to go out to the South Shore, Annapolis Valley or Peggy's Cove, all of which are worth the journey.
