Useful Tips |
| Traffic - by P. Sherman from Sydney |
| Take your time when driving, there is no point in rushing as you won’t get there any quicker, there are very steep hills and narrow roads in places. Cornwall is the English Riviera and can get very busy so expect your journey to take twice as long during peak periods. Be assured that it is well worth it, crystal clear water and breathtaking views! I feel that having a car in Cornwall is a far better option than relying on public transport. |
Cornwall Overview |
| Cornwall is situated in the South of England and is one of the UK's most prominent tourist spots. And with sumptuous coastline, wonderful countryside and loveable towns it is easy to see why. There are many places in the county worth visiting, such as the surfing paradise of Newquay, relaxing towns such as St Ives and unspoilt villages like Charlestown.

Cornwall Essentials |
Newquay - This excellent resort is one of the most popular places in Cornwall, attracting a great number of tourists every year. Newquay has excellent beaches, rolling waves and a lively nightlife.
Bude - Situated in the far north of the county, Bude is a fantastic resort which attracts visitors of all ages. The main attraction of Bude is its coastline, with wonderful beaches and majestic cliffs.
St Ives - Once the centre of the Cornwall fishing industry, St Ives is now a popular tourist haunt. Like much of the rest of the county, St Ives has some wonderful beaches, but what really sets it apart are its art galleries and museums, the St Ives Tate Gallery being the most impressive.
Isles of Scilly - This group of around one hundred islands situated 28 miles away from the coastline is well worth a visit. The Isles of Scilly have much to offer with beautiful beaches, fantastic remains, majestic rock formations and wonderful flowers. |

Cornwall Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events |
Daphne du Maurier Festival (May) - This excellent literature festival takes place in the town of Fowey every year.
Royal Cornwall Show (June) - This three day country show is one of Cornwall's top events.
